Haiti - Environment : Sandy, 5.665 people in temporary shelters - 1.372 houses destroyed 25/10/2012 15:38:59
This morning the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe had a meeting with the Minister of Economy and Finance, Marie-Carmelle Jean Marie, for the preparation of budget of emergency measures. Alta Jean Baptiste, director of the Civil Protection has declared in a press conference "...we evacuated 5.665 people to temporary shelters [...] there are 1.372 houses destroyed, particularly in the department of South and in the zone of Nippes and of the Grande Anseparticularly on the coastal [...] we have 4 municipalities in the department of South-East who are severely flooded, all the municipalities of the department of Nippes are under water [...] from tomorrow if the weather is better, teams will continue with assessments [...]" Department of Northwest MP Eloune Dorelus reported several destruction in Mole Saint-Nicolas Departments of South, the DPC informs that the balance sheet amounted to 3 victims, whose two women and a manin the department of South. The authorities of Petit-Goâve launch a call for help, there is a need for food and water... Landslide in Kenskoff. In some places Tabarre is impractical. Ti kalbas, Rancogne, Bineau Lesther and Lapointe, Morne Mardi Gras etc... all the localities of Léogâne are flooded the PNH is on site for evacuation.  Léogâne  Bridge of the River Courjolle in Carrefour Bois - Arcahaie Department of Grande Anse, the Minister of Communication reports major destruction and that the hospital of the city is blocked due to falling tree branches.
