Evening of tales in Creole to the IFH
Monday, as part of the International Day of the language and of the Creole culture [28 October], the French Institute in Haiti (IFH) presents an evening of tales in Creole (Conte : De kout tanbou pou lavi, of Williamson Belfort) "A Friday in November 1919, in a courtyard, in a small village of south-east of Haiti. Mambo Goulou is the largest voodoo priestess and gathers each year the crowds to celebrate the cult of Gede. The drum rhythm the dance, makes plants grow and spring water sources. It celebrates the marriage of the beautiful Zoulin with Zorey, the drummer. But Zorey is suddenly abducted by a loa..." Jimmy Carter and his wife come to help build houses
For the second consecutive year, from 25 November 2012 to 30 November 2012, to Santo (Léogâne) the Former President Jimmy Carter (88), his wife and Jonathan Reckford, the CEO of Habitat for Humanity International will join nearly 600 volunteers to help build 100 homes over a week, with beneficiary families. Work will begin Sunday, November 25 and November 30, there will be a signing session of houses.

Launch of CEHLA
The launch of the Collective of Haitian Students in Applied Linguistics (CEHLA), took place this week at the Faculty of Applied Linguistics (FLA). This new association open to former and current students of the FLA, has amon other as objectives, to conduct research on the Creole language and argue in favor of a definition of its role in education and politics.

Sandy, new human toll
The DPC just informed that the human toll of the passage of Sandy now stands at 44 dead, 12 missing and 19 wounded. 21,107 people are housed in 158 temporary shelters.
