Haiti - Culture : Pamela White visited the Minister of Culture
Monday, Jean Mario Dupuy, the Minister of Culture, received the visit of the Ambassador of the United States in Haiti, Ms. Pamela Ann White.

This courtesy visit has allowed the U.S. Ambassador, to make with the Minister, an overview of the cooperation between Haiti and the USA. The discussion focused in particular on the strengthening of cultural ties between the two countries.

Ms. White has promised the one hand, to support the Ministry in the implementation of its cultural policy revolving around the inventory of cultural heritage, of the study on economically viable sectors, of the training for SMEs cultural and the cultural education at school (the 4 pillars of the Ministry) and secondly, to accompany the Haitian artists, in the structuring and standardization of their works.

The Minister Dupuy, for his part insisted, on the economic value of the creative industries Haitian, the investment in cultural infrastructure (theaters, convention centers etc...) and the duty to make of the traditional lakous, of places economic, and of houmforts of tourist sites, by bringing modernity, based on the model of Ethno-tourism project, of Johannesburg, South Africa.

The meeting lasted about an hour, and ended on the promise of a new meeting.
