Haiti - Reconstruction : The President Martelly on tour in the South
The President Martelly, accompanied by Ministers, Directors-General and Secretaries of State, conducted, Thursday, November 8, an official visit to Les Cayes, Camp-Perrin and Maniche [Department of the South], where he was warmly welcomed by local authorities and the population, to evaluate the different projects running, including the construction of the Hospital OFATMA, of the Charles Lassègue National School, a public market, social housing, the first phase consists in building 100 homes for families in need and a Socio-cultural sports center.

The hospital of OFATMA of Les Cayes, one of the largest projects underway in the region, funded by Taiwan to the tune of 3.4 million U.S. dollars, which will be officially inaugurated on 14 May 2013, will be able to perform 150 consultations per day, according to Charles Jean-Jacques, Directir General of the OFATMA.

The President Martelly also went to Gelée, where development work of the beach, which has great tourism potential in the region, progressing well.

The Head of State, visited several neighborhoods of the city of Les Cayes, including La Savanne before going in the town of Camp Perrin, where he proceeded to the distribution of food kits, under the Social Assistance Program "Ede Pep."

During his tour President Martelly proceeded to the inauguration of the Vocational Training Centre of Les Cayes (CFPC) in the presence of Government officials, religious and civil. Run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, the CFPC, whose rehabilitation work has been made possible by the Haitian government through the Secretariat of State for Vocational Training, trains young people among others in : cabinet, electricity and ironwork.
