Haiti - Culture : Signing of a cooperation agreement with the State of Quintana Roo (Mexico) 13/11/2012 09:12:04
"This is the first treaty signed in this area between the two countries," noted Ms. Chan "it reflects the desire of the two States to closer both in the cultural field, that in the field of economic development." The Minister Dupuy, who welcomed the signing of this agreement, on behalf of President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, thanked the authorities of the State of Quintana Roo, for their warm welcome. The Minister hopes that this agreement will promote and facilitate between the two countries, exchanges and research in areas of mutual interest, such as: literature, music, dance, theater, architecture, film and the arts plastic "The state of Quintana Roo and Haiti are holders of two considerable wealth: the heritage and culture. By adding and creating a communication bridge between these two wealth, we will contribute together to strengthen the Caribbean and to make it stronger in the eyes of the world." Speech by Minister Dupuy during the signing of the agreement : "Let me begin my remarks by thanking you for your warm welcome, that you have given the Haitian delegation. This demonstrates the strength of our common culture whose base is hospitality. Ms. Villanueva Chan Ladies and Gentlemen, Today is a historic day, because he sees an event that Haiti expects for 200 years. For the first time since independence, Haiti signed a cultural cooperation agreement with Mexico. And I'm even happier that this is done here in Quintana Roo, granary of Mayan culture. Every day that passes, we discover the remains of our common past through the Mayan culture whose traces are increasingly visible in Haiti. The state of Quintana Roo and Haiti are holders of two considerable wealth: the heritage and culture. By adding and creating a communication bridge between these two wealth, we will contribute together to strengthen the Caribbean and to make it stronger in the eyes of the world. The agreement we are signing today is a first step. It is also the promise that we will continue to work together to strengthen, promote our culture and make of it an engine for growth and economic development of our two peoples. By signing this agreement, we identify a common vision that allows us to understand how culture and the arts can be a witness considerable of solidarity between the two peoples. This solidarity, you have shown it in 2010during the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti. And this is an opportunity for me, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Haiti, HE Joseph Michel Martelly and on behalf of my government leader, His Excellency Laurent Salvador Lamothe, to thank you for the spontaneity and speed of your help. Ladies / Gentlemen, We are bound by a common history, it is history. We have a common wealth, it is cultural. I'm sure you have the same understanding of the importance of culture as me. And to use the slogan adopted this year by the Ministers of Culture of Africa, Caribbean and Pacific countries, there is no future without culture.
