Haiti - Economy : Haiti will sit on ECOSOC for Latin America, for 3 years
At its sixty-seventh session [33rd plenary meeting], the General Assembly proceeded, to the election of a third of members of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Composed of 54 members, whose 18 are elected each year for a period of three years, the outgoing members of ECOSOC are immediately reeligible.

The General Assembly elected to ECOSOC the following 18 Member States : South Africa, Albania, Benin, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, United States, Haiti, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritius, Nepal, Netherlands, San Marino, Sudan, Tunisia and Turkmenistan.

For the three seats of Group of States of Latin American and Caribbean, Bolivia, Colombia and Haiti have been elected with 186 votes each.

As of 1 January 2013, ECOSOC will be composed of the following countries : South Africa, Albania, Austria, Belarus, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, El Salvador, Ecuador, United States, Ethiopia, Russia, France, Gabon, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lesotho, Libya, Malawi, Mauritius, Mexico, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, New Zealand, Netherlands, Pakistan, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Dominican Republic, United Kingdom, San Marino, Senegal, Sudan, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
