Haiti - Diplomacy : European tour of President Martelly
The President Martelly must arrive Friday morning at Cadiz in Spain, beginning of his tour, to attend the Summit Iberoamericana, which revolves around the theme of "Economic growth to reduce poverty." For the Head of State "[...] the participation in this Summit represents the restoration of the international confidence in Haiti."

Lucien Jura, the Spokesman of the Presidency said "[...] in Spain the President Martelly will participate in the Iberoamerican Summit, which is a platform that brings together the countries of Latin America as well as Spain and Portugal. This is the first time that Haiti will have this privilege, as an observer, to participate in the Ibero-American summit, it will be a new window of opportunity for the country to the extent that there will be a space created for Haiti, for new cooperation. The President Martelly will take advantage [...] to make bilateral meetings [...] with countries that have relations with Haiti and Spain in particular. The President Martelly will also sign an agreement on investment protection [...]"

The President Martelly will hold a bilateral meeting with Dominican President, Danilo Medina, before attending the official opening ceremony of the summit.

Saturday, November 17 :
Martelly Michel Martelly, who will speak at the plenary session of the Summit, will meet on the same day with the Presidents Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Sebastián Piñera (Chile), Ricardo Martinelly (Panama) and Anibal Cavaco Silva (Portugal).

Sunday, November 18 :
The President Martelly will meet in Madrid, Enrique Iglesias, Ibero-American Secretary General.

Monday 19, Tuesday 20 November :
The Head of State will travel to Brussels (Belgium) and there will be meetings with the President of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy and European Commission President José Manuel Barroso.

Lucien Jura, the Spokesman of the Presidency explains "[...] in Belgium the President will, this is the first time that Haiti has the privilege to take part in a plenary meeting of the countries of the European Union [...] he will speak before the European Parliament, in front of 800 deputies representing 27 EU countries [...] the President Martelly will also address the authority of the Council of the European Union, the EU Commission and of Parliament [...] to see how he can strengthen cooperation with the countries of the EU, a reinforcement that will begin with in particular the opening of the Chamber of Commerce of the European Union with Haiti [...] he will also address 79 Ambassadors of the ACP (Africa-Caribbean-Pacific) [...] A meeting is scheduled with His Royal Highness the Princess of Martine of Belgium [...]"

Wednesday, November 21 :
Martelly will continue his tour and will travel to Strasbourg (France), to meet other European authorities.

Thursday, November 22 :
Martelly will travel to Rome where he will meet with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. He will also meet José Graziano da Silva, the Secretary General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
