Haiti - Politic : Meeting with the Diaspora about the future of Haiti
The President Michel Martelly, accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Sophia Martelly, met Monday, December 10, at North Miami Beach Library, the compatriots of the Diaspora, about issues related to the future of Haiti.

More than 200 representatives from various sectors of the Diaspora coming from the Caribbean, Canada, the United States, Europe and South America, attended to this meeting which was attended by the Mayor of Miami Beach, Mr. George Valejo, of Consuls General of Haiti in Miami, Atlanta, New York and Orlando, of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Pierre Richard Casimir, of the Haitians living abroad, Mr. Daniel Supplice, of Trade and Industry, Mr. Wilson Laleau, National Education, Mr. Vanneur Pierre, of Tourism, Ms. Stephanie Villedrouin, the Director of Investment Facilitation Center (CFI), Andy Georges René, and various other personalities of the diaspora, judges, doctors, entrepreneurs.

It was for the Head of State to renew to the Haitian Diaspora, its commitment to out Haiti of the economic vulnerability and motivate Haitians abroad, to the development of the country.

Through an intervention focused on awareness of the Haitian diaspora to the cause, the President Martelly has guaranteed its attention and expressed his great concern to accompany them, first by identifying their areas of evolution, then assist them through the CFI and the Ministry of Commerce, in their numerous investments approaches.

While thanking the diaspora's support within the Universal Schooling Program, Free and Compulsory (PSUGO), through the National Fund for Education (FNE), the Head of the State promised to work to ensure that this change in Haiti "You've always proven to Haiti that it can rely on you. I know, despite your distance, this degree of commitment to the cause," stressed President Martelly, before giving the floor to the various ministers and representatives of sectors, for a presentation of the different work already undertaken and development perspectives in tourism, reconstruction, education, investment...

The Minister of Haitians Living Abroad, Daniel Supplice has invited the different sectors to revisit the beginnings of the Haitian diaspora, the beginnings of the first waves of Haitians outwards, the propensity and the ongoing reforms of the new Administration Martelly-Lamothe.

Vanneur Pierre, Minister of National Education made an inventory of education in Haiti, the different programs developed, the progress of PSUGO and the concerns of his ministry in order to reach the targets set by the Head of State, to facilitate the intellectual and physical development of Haiti.

Patrick Rouzier, the presidential adviser on housing, gave an update on the process of resettlement of displaced persons from 12 January 2010, to reconstruction activities of different government buildings and tourist facilities.

Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, presented the work at the level of the structure of his Ministry and tourism infrastructure, the development of the hotel industry in the framework of the revitalization of tourism, of the training of human resources to the negotiation of holiday packages with airlines...

The Investment Facilitation Centre, was also at the center of debates. Georges Andy René, Director General of the CFI, made ​​a presentation of the mission of the institution and the various machinery of the investment in Haiti, the steps, the concrete actions, the accompanying of foreign investor, legal reforms, specific programs for Diaspora...

Wilson Laleau, Minister of Trade and Industry, described the conditions for the generation of employment, with the private sector development and the investment as a public good and the need to work to improve the incentive framework, the creation of the Haitian Bureau of Standards, the Metrology Laboratory and the Center of business development and entrepreneurship, the support to SME development and training.

The President Martelly believes that today, with this meeting of the Haitian diaspora, from all sectors, the time has come for the Diaspora can now truly get involved and contribute to the new orientation of Haiti.
