Haiti - Education : 3,500 students already beneficiaries of the program «Kore Etidyan»
Monday, the President Michel Martelly, has honored its commitments in favor of students of the State University of Haiti (UEH) and those of Public Universities in Region (UPR), by launching officially to the Municipal Palace of Delmas, the Social Assistance Program "Kore Etidyan", which aims to grant per academic year, a subsidy of 18,000 gourdes to each of them.

"The official launching ceremony of the program Kore Etidyan this morning is an important step in the efforts of my administration to support the public university education and assist the student population to improve its study conditions," declared the Head of State, in the presence of Vanneur Pierre, Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Government officials and more than a thousand students.

Dated December 16, 2012, 10.005 students [duly registered and holders of their student card] have already completed their application forms for allocation whose 7.700 are already treated by the Funds of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES). 3.500 students have already received their first monthly allowance. The money is recoverable through the network SogeXpress and the recipient is informed of the availability of money via SMS.

The Rev.. Father Yves Voltaire, Rector of the Public University of Les Cayes, which represented the Rectors of Public Universities in Southern Region, thanked the President for making education a priority axis in the action program of his administration and placed concrete actions to contribute to the reform of the university system.

For their part, the students expressed their gratitude to President Martelly, for having fulfilled its commitment, made ​​September 12, 2012, to the town hall of Delmas.
