Haiti - Health : Brazil donates 2 million doses of vaccine
The Ministry of Health of Brazil has donated another shipment of vaccines to Haiti, nearly 2 million doses distributed as follows: 297.750 doses of BCG against tuberculosis, 1,500,000 of Oral Polio Vaccine (VOP) for the prevention of polio and 200,000 doses of DPT vaccine to prevent diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. These vaccines have arrived in Haiti this week, and will be used in routine immunization across the country.

The Brazilian Government through the Project of tripartite cooperation Brazil-Cuba-Haiti was one of the main partners of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in the 1st national immunization campaign in Haiti, which was held in April of this years, Brazil has donated 4 million vaccines, supplies, and material of disclosure.

Brazil is also responsible for strengthening the cold chain: buying propane for the proper operation of refrigerators, purchase of 3 trucks for transporting vaccines and the technical support of Brazilian experts in this field. This technical support strengthens the capacity of the Ministry of Health in the monitoring and the disease prevention whose vaccination is essential.

For the development and operationalization of these monitoring activities, 13 epistemologists were hired (one for each department and two for the Ministry) Laptops, printers, cell phones and Toyota vehicles, including equipment were purchased and financial resources for the payment of consultants are available.
