Haiti - Tourism : Stéphanie Villedrouin unveils the projects and perspectives 2013
As had mentioned in his wishes, Stéphanie Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-7453-haiti-social-wishes-from-the-minister-of-tourism.html this new year is "an opportunity to see how we can contribute to further boost the tourism sector in Haiti, which is thriving these days [...]"

Stéphanie Villedrouin, unveiled the projects and perspectives 2013 of his Ministry for 2013. A busy year with ambitious objectives to the height of our dynamic and tireless Minister, including :

  • Construction of a laboratory of professional kitchen and of a restaurant of application in the Capital ;
  • Opening of the Training Institute in Les Cayes ;
  • Construction of airports and of Les Cayes and of the Ile à vache ;
  • Implementation of the Tourist Police ;
  • Development of other tourist sites: Bassin Zim, Fort Jacques, site of Bois Caïman, public beach of the Côte des arcadins, Source Chaude, etc... ;
  • Agreements with Delta, Air France, Air Transat for the promotion of holiday packages.
  • Participation in tourism fairs in New York, Montreal, Guadeloupe and the Dominican Republic ;
  • Promotional campaign towards growth markets.

In order to develop new tourist destinations: Jacmel (Destination 2013) and Côte de Fer, Chouchou Bay and Ile à Vache (destinations 2015), the Minister has set the following objectives:

  • The realization of the Development Plan for tourist poles in Haiti ;
  • he establishment of the structure necessary to attract investment ;
  • The Development of RIAT (Regions Integrated Development of Tourism) ;
  • The finalization of the Plan of diagnosis of the entire South zone ;
  • The realization of the Development Plan for the South zone (underway with the support of FONATUR - January 2013).

Concerning the regulation, Stéphanie Villedrouin stressed that Haiti needed to develop new legislation to ensure the quality of services in the tourism sector. To this end, the Ministry of Tourism aims among others for this new year:

  • Construction standards of tourism infrastructure;
  • The classification of hotels according to regional standards and the development of a classification label Haitian ;
  • The establishment of a Unit of inspection (training of 20 inspectors in tourism) ;
  • Provide its support to tourism operators and compliance with standards of this sector ;
  • Proceed to the classification of travel agencies based on their activities ;
  • Control the tourist transport (car rental, bus transportation, taxi to airport).

As the Minister pointed out in his wishes "Let's make 2013 the year where we will experience success, not only in tourism but in all areas ! Work jointly for the prosperity and stability in Haiti. These are the wishes that I formulate for my country at the end of this year."
