Haiti - Education : Inauguration of an Educational Complex and Medical in Fonfrède
The Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES) proceeded Thursday at the inauguration of the Educational Complex and Medical of Fonfrède [commune of Les Cayes] and of the École Nationale Base of Torbeck. These buildings built to the standards include 8 modern classrooms, a medical center, all the furniture [worth 79.000 dollars], independent generators and playground. This complex is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training, the Ministry of Public Health and international donors such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), allows to improve the school offer as well as a better delivery of basic services in the most remote areas of the country.

Within the framework of the support of the American people in Haiti in the field of education the contingent of SOUTHCOM has built 8 complexes of the same type in 3 departments of the country [Artibonite, South and Grand'Anse], whose 2 have already been inaugurated in December 2012 in Gonaïves.

These constructions estimated at $8.3 million have allowed the creation of 5,000 direct jobs and will serve 2.750 students according to their capacity.

Vaneur Pierre, Minister of National Education, reiterated his desire to land the vision of President Martelly concerning access to education for all children of Haiti. The Minister has also responded positively to the request of the population, for the construction of a school in the town of Fonfrèd.



The Ambassador of the United States, Mrs. Pamela White, presents at this ceremony, did not hide her satisfaction with the progress made by the team Martelly-Lamothe in the education sector in Haiti "Today, more than 80% of school-age children [out of school], have for the first time, took the way to school."

Klaus Eberwein, Director General of FAES, also congratulated the working relationship between the Government and the international community, while stressed that this type of agreement, brought great benefits to the most vulnerable regions of the country.
