Haiti - Politic : Elections to the Lower House, the PSP takes control
Wednesday, unsurprisingly, the Deputy of Croix-des-Bouquets, Jean Tholbert Alexis, of the majority bloc, Pro-governmental "Parliamentarians for Stability and Progress" (PSP), who won the primary against the outgoing deputy, Jacques Stevenson Thimoléon (of Petit-Goâve) was elected President of the Lower House [65 votes in favor, 5 against and 21 abstentions] and replaces to this position the Deputy, Levaillant Louis Jeune.

Everything seemed already played before the election of members of Bureau the Deputy Stevenson Jacques Thimléon (PSP), had indicated that, after the affront made Monday to the Prime Minister by the minority bloc "Parliamentarians for Institutional Strengthening" (PRI) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-7637-haiti-politic-deplorable-spectacle-in-parliament.html the majority bloc, intended to be represented to all the Bureau positions.

New Bureau members of the Lower House :
Jean Tholbert President
Jean Camille Desmarattes vice-President
Romial Smith Vice President to the Administrative Affairs
Gluck Teophile 1st Secretary
Ogline Pierre 2nd Secretary
Renaud Jean Baptiste Questor
Rodriguez Séjour vice-Questor

The Prime Minister welcomed with satisfaction the election of the new Bureau "The head of government remains convinced that the plurality of ideas and the democratic change must constitute the basis of the political environment facing anarchy and extremism and is commits to work to the satisfaction of needs of the population by promoting dialogue and understanding between the powers of the State," we read in the press release of the Primature.

Following his election, the new President of the Chamber of Deputies made a speech before his colleagues.

Speech of Jean Tholbert Alexis :
"My dear Colleagues,

The Rubicon has been crossed, for me and for you. By your confidence expressed in a majority vote unequivocally, here I became President of the Chamber of Deputies.

My inaugural speech will be sober, soaked by the the emotion that penetrates and numbs the being who has just received the sacrament and the unction of his peers. It will be especially and only the expression of my deep gratitude to all those who, through their vote, have committed an act of faith in my modest abilities to lead their Assembly, and who gave me a certificate of confidence and a credit that I swear here solemnly to honor at each instant of my time at the head of the Chamber of Deputies.

I thank and congratulate the outgoing President, the Honorable Levaillant Louis-Jeune, which deposits on our office an apron immaculate and to which I ask to open to me the book and the benefits of his long experience of President. I also greet the other members of the Bureau which descended on the lawn of our daily debates, after one year very difficult on the podium of the General Assembly.

My dear colleagues,

I am here, in this moment for me exceptional to declare Urbi et Orbi, that I am a president stripped of all sectarianism. As such, I am the representative and spokesman of all my colleagues, those who have voted for me, as those who have rejected my choice. The majority chosen me, that the minority welcomes me in any magnanimity. The democratic sense imposes on all of us a largesse of spirit and this communion of idealswhich alone can push each as other at the summit of the tolerance, excellence and success.

With all of you, my dear colleagues on the right or left of the majority and the minority, combined together in a bundle indistinct and compact, I intend to enhance the legislative performance for the year of my presidency. Together, we will control the governmental action to help the executive to comply with its actions in the mold of popular expectations and the pursuit of well-being. With all of you, I will work to bring back the mutual understanding, the harmony between the powers of the Statefor a conjunction of efforts and actions designed to satisfy the basic needs of the Nation. Together, we will adjust our behavior, we will camp a posture of worthy parliamentarians and close to our duties, and who know how to project an image restored, healthy and our prestigious on our House and of Haitian Parliament.

I ask your indulgence and understanding. I await your criticism and I urge you to speak without restraint or inhibition, but in the wise limits of mutual respect.

Truce of speech. Let's get to work. And cherish together and to every moment of our cooperation the ideal to present at the end of the year a balance sheet generous, to the satisfaction of our constituents who expect from us impactful actionslikely to calm their impatience and to achieve their expectations and their legitimate aspirations.

Thank you to all once again."
