The Head of State believes that the success of the CELAC will be effective with the increase, in the future of the number of countries in the region, who have made significant progress in areas of Sustainable Development "We will never be satisfied with our work, as long as there are people suffering, crying, dying of hunger and disease due to lack of care," concluded the President Martelly, while welcoming the memory of José Martí, champion of the struggle for the independence of Cuba, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth, January 28, 2013. In addition, the President Martelly, has opened discussions between Chile and the Heads of State and Government of CARICOM, around the broad lines of the organization and the involvement of Chile [President pro tempore of the CELAC]. The Heads of State and Government of CARICOM have took the opportunity to discuss language barriers existing in the region, of possible exchanges between students and market development. They also sought the expertise of Chile, as well as other Member States, in the joint efforts in the development of fisheries, exploration and mining, as well as access to new technologies. The President Michel Martelly, while commending the leadership of Chile to the Presidency of the CELAC and his involvement in the reconstruction of Haiti, mentioned areas such as the management of natural events, the development of sustainable agriculture and food security to which Chile can contribute to Member States vulnerable. The Head of State also took the opportunity to ask Chile to bring its support to the redesign of the Haitian Mining Code and the integration of Haiti to the Andean Development Corporation (CAF), main funding agent of infrastructure projects in Latin America, with 16 member countries. The incorporation of Haiti to the CAF, will allow the country to advance more quickly in the process of institutional strengthening, the development of agriculture, reducing the migration of people to urban centers and the creation of jobs.
