Haiti - Culture : Laying the «first stone» of the cultural diplomacy
Last week, Josette Darguste, the Minister of Culture had a working meeting with representatives of the Quebec Festival "Just For Laughs" on the sidelines of the launch conference of the cultural diplomacy. Have participated in this working session, Stefan Malebranche, Director General of the Ministry, Justin Viard, the Consul General of Haiti in Montreal, writer Dany Laferièrre, a member of creation committee of the School of Humour of Haiti ; Mr. André Picard, Vice President of Corporate and Public Affairs of the festival and Louise Richer, Director General and pedagogical of the National School of Humor of Quebec.

The Minister Darguste has laid the "foundation stone" of the cultural diplomacy, by signing a framework agreement between the Just for Laughs Festival, the National School of Humour of Montreal and the Ministry of Culture.

"These are excellent Quebec institutions in the field of humor," stressed the Consul General of Haiti in Montreal, who is convinced that Haiti needs humor to thrive in an atmosphere of relaxation and provide International major performances.

This agreement to bring together of aims humorists from Haiti and Quebec, in order to allow the cultural exchange and production of shows. Thus 4 performances will be organized in Quebec and in Haiti which will enable raise funds in order to plan the training of trainers of Haitian humorists, to lead to the creation of a school of humor for the writers and performers of Haiti.

This project is consistent with the guidelines of the roadmap set by the new Minister of Culture to develop the cultural pluralism and the dialogue between cultures and heritage in the circuit of the social and economic way. It is also within the framework of the policy of the Government Martelly-Lamothe to provide Haiti, with strong institutions capable of improving its image in the world while boosting its educational and cultural structures.
