Haiti - Culture : Toussaint Louverture on cinema screens in 2014
Monday at the National Palace, the President Michel Martelly, in the presence, among other, of Ministers of Foreign Affairs Pierre-Richard Casimir, Tourism, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin and Culture, Mrs. Josette Darguste, appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for Haiti, Mr. Jeta Amata, Nigerian film director and screenwriter.

This distinction was awarded to Mr. Amata for his project to make a film about our national hero "Toussaint Louverture" and for his valuable contribution to the sustainability of the louverturienne thought.

"We felt at Jeta this sincerity, love for the history of Haiti, for Toussaint Louverture and for Haiti. He is aware of the role we have played in the history of the humanity and has proven by himself the necessity of rebuild Haiti's image around the world," indicated the President Martelly, adding that this appointment will help Mr. Amata to continue the positive work he did on Haiti.

In his words of thanks, the filmmaker, proud of this distinction, stated that this appointment is the biggest Oscar he won.

"This appointment is the proof that you, Mr. President and the Haitian people, believe in me. I will not disappoint you. The income of this film will return to Haiti to restore your historic sites," declared Mr. Amata the voice filled with emotion.

The shooting of the film will be done mostly in Haiti, but also in the Dominican Republic and France and ist release on the screen is scheduled for 2014 "[...] It will be the work of Haitians. And after this realization, Haiti will became the ideal location of filming/shooting in the world. We will see your beautiful beaches and we will know that Haitian spirit," added the Nigerian Filmmaker.

Jean-Charles Levy of Forecast Pictures will produce this film in co-production with "Wells & Jeta Entertainment", "Forecast Pictures", "KZP Productions" and "Triumphant Entertainment", from a screenplay by writer Russo-Austrian Kyra Pahlen on a music of George Acogny.
