Haiti - Education : Vanneur Pierre on mission in Washington DC
Vanneur Pierre, Minister of National Education began on Monday 4 February 2013, a mission in Washington DC, with partners from the Haitian education system, around the major orientations defined in the Operational Plan 2010-2015.

Mobilize all actors, including representatives of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), the Canadian Agency for International Development (CIDA), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Bank World, on the necessity, among other, of a better coordination of their respective interventions under the leadership of the Haitian Ministry of Education in order to achieve faster results in the context of the implementation of the Operational Plan, this is the the essential objective of the mission that will end on February 8.

Speaking at the first meeting at the headquarters of IDB, the Minister Pierre stressed the efforts made ​​by the Government of Haiti to strengthen the education sector, both in terms of offer, as the quality of service provided. The implementation of Universal Schooling Program Free and Compulsory (PSUGO), allowing mass access of children to free education and of quality, is an example in this regard, said the Minister, who took the opportunity to remind that education is the priority of the ublic policy adopted by the Government Martelly-Lamothe. In this sense, he invited partners to support the Haitian government in this enormous undertaking, in order to reach the universal education throughout the country by 2015.

Given all the challenges to be met for the sector, he urged them to increase their interest in the Haitian educational cause nd to focus their support around the vision defined by the Government.

In addition, during this mission, the Minister Vanneur Pierre will speak at "Woodrow Wilson Center" on education issues in Haiti and throughout the world today. He will also meet, in addition to partners interested in supporting the work of his ministry, his U.S. counterpart, the Secretary of State Arne Duncan and the Black Caucus of the U.S. Congress.
