"Black History Month"
The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago has a duty to remember that February is known throughout the world as the "Black History Month". This is an opportunity for us to think about our heritage, honoring our national heroes and to the place that our country occupies in the historyof humanity in general and of the black race in particular. In this regard, the Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago will intervene Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 7:00 pm on the airwaves of "Radio Haïti Internationale de Chicago" (1590 AM or www.1590haiti.com) on the subject : "The Haitian Revolution and the negation of the dignity of the black man."

Suspension of permits to carry firearms in the country
The National Police of Haiti (PNH) has suspended the permits to carry weapons on the path of National Carnival and in all departments of the country, from 10 to 13 February 2013. Wearing knives or any other object that may cause injury are prohibited in all areas where will be held the carnival festivities. In addition, the PNH also prohibited during this period, the sale and consumption of drinks in glass containers.

Agricultural market of local products at the carnival
More than 50 farmers and processors of agricultural products have been mobilized for the holding of a Agricultural market of local products (Streets behind the BNC of Cap-Haitien 11-15) during the National Carnival of Cap Haitien. The Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, intends by this initiative reduce the risk of shortage of products for hotels and restaurants, and that the farmers benefit from economic benefits of different departments of the country.*

Training for taxi-moto
This week, as part of a road safety campaign conducted by the Office of Communication and Public Information of the Minustah, together with the National Police of Haiti supported by the United Nations Police (UNPOL) 300 taxi-moto of the municipality of Aquin (South), were sensitized to road safety. The departmental head of the Office of Traffic of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and the Director of the driving school of Aquin showed the drivers how to behave to avoid accidents. Participants each received pamphlets and a T-shirt on the rules of the road.
