Haiti - Culture : Two Haitian films in competition at the 23rd biennial FESPACO 2013
Two Haitian films "Jeux dangereux" (Dangerous Games), directed by Antoine Boseny, and "Le chauffeur" (Driver), of Jean-Claude Bourjolly are part of the official selection [Category diaspora] of the 23rd edition of the Pan-African Film & TV Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), which will take place in Burkina Faso (West Africa), starting this Saturday, February 23 to March 2, 2013.

In addition, the Haitian filmmaker Arnold Antonin, holder the Prix Paul Robeson of Best Film of the African Diaspora FESPACO in 2007, 2009 and 2011, was part of the jury that selected the finalists in the category Diaspora alongside of Beti Ellerson of the United States of America, Tanya Valette Dominican Republic, Asha Lovelace from Trinidad & Tobago and Carlos Aguilar of Panama.

Note that the film "Les amours d’un zombi" (The Loves of a Zombie) of Arnold Antonin, was the third film of the director to be awarded in the history of the festival, after "Le président a t-il le Sida ?" (The president does AIDS ?), and "Jacques Roumain, la passion d’un pays" (Jacques Roumain, the passion of a country). Let us recall also that in 2011, the Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck had received a special mention for his film "Molock Tropical", filmed in the walls of the Citadelle Laferrière (Northern Haiti).

101 films (on nearly 700 registered) from 35 countries were selected for the FESPACO 2013, in the categories of feature films, shorts, documentaries and diaspora.
