Haiti - Social : «Joining our forces to defend the rights of Women» 08/03/2013 14:19:37 "The International Day of the Woman that we are celebrating March 8, 2013, must interpellate everyone on the need to combat discrimination and atrocities of any kind endured for ages by women. It must also be an opportunity for the Haitian society, in particular, to understand the meaning of the long struggle throughout history to improve the living conditions of women and enable them to play a role of choice in the economic life of the country. The administration Martelly-Lamothe take advantage of this celebration to reaffirm its strong commitment to work for the emancipation of woman, to the respect for their rights and its full participation in the development of the country by its integration into decision-making positions according to the wishes of the Constitution. As a woman, Minister of Communication, today I salute the courage of our female press workers that are becoming more and more in this area. The high toughness of these women o want to keep the public informed and to educate it, allow us to believe in a better tomorrow. I express my solidarity with this cause which is, moreover, one of the priorities of the Government of the Republic. The Haitian Professional of the Communications have been able to mark the center of the press and have always proved resourceful, resilient and courageous face hardships. I share, on this day, the wish to see improved the working conditions of workers of press, but also of all Haitian women in general. Joining our forces to defend the rights of Women and fight against violence against women. Following the example of our women ancestors, we are called to write a new page of history focused on sustainable development. Finally, let us pay tribute to all those who have preceded us in this struggle of women committed to the noble cause of Haiti. Let us take charge of our future, putting an end to the injustices whose we are the victims and enjoy the freedom and security that we are entitled to. Happy feast to the women and specifically women who are members of the Haitian press !" HL/ HaitiLibre
