Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Commerce and Industry recalled that the President of the Republic had made the challenge of change : get the country out the era of the assistantship to move to that of the productive investment, creator of wealth and decent jobs and sustainable, the foundation of social stability and autonomy of citizens "[...] The main objective of this project (...) is to render SMEs more competitive in order to integrate value chains. The methodology is simple. It helps establish strategic relationships of supply with major companies requesting by SMEs throughout the value chain as long as the latter are capable of producing by respecting the norms and standards required by these large companies. It allows to connect small farmers to markets. And this in all areas. For example, imagine what it could represent if the National Brewery to produce its beer Prestige, was sourcing to 50% among Haitian SMEs. Imagine that the maintenance of our Fleet of over 400,000 units could rely on the supply of specialized SMEs Haitian. Imagine the effect it would have on the overall functioning of the company if the large chains of food distribution could sourcing in small production units structured and managed. I let you imagine the little things that we can do that can trigger a massive process and dynamics of job creation in the country, while revaluing territories and assets of people wherever they live," declared the Minister Laleau in his of circumstances. Recalling that "[...] all started about seven months ago, with a call for expressions of interest in major newspapers and websites of jobs promotion from which we received 134 applications. On the basis of predetermined criteria and examinations in 6 different matters, 34 candidates were selected for training for three months. Of these 34 candidates, 16 were able to complete the entire training and obtain the required score to join the program [...]" Stressing that the preliminary results of the census of businesses conducted by the Ministry showed that over 92% of Haitian businesses "are very small individual or family businesses with low capital, 75% specialized in the purchase and resale of commodities often imported can not, in the natural state, be creative, of sustainable jobs and decent as desired by the government. It was precisely on these problematics that these consultants certified by the PDF can help MSMEs suppliers in their relations with leading companies."
