Monday, Wilson Laleau, Minister of Commerce and Industry met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea accredited to Haiti, Park Dong-Sil.

The visit of Ambassador Dong-Sil to Minister Laleau, precedes the arrival, Thursday, April 4, of 3 South Korean companies wishing to establish their activities in Caracol Industrial Park. The Minister Laleau will welcome these investors to expose to them the advantages offered by Haiti at Caracol Industrial Park.

It was also question of creating a vocational school focused on the textile industry, to the Caracol Industrial Park. South Korea will finance the school to the tune of 3.5 million U.S. dollars. This commitment follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding last year, between Haiti and South Korea.

Ambassador Dong-Sil also announced that in order to support the program of President Michel Martelly, advocating free education for all children of school age, South Korea is committed to providing the Haitian government 50 buses to provide free transportation for schoolchildren.

Minister Laleau took advantage of this meeting to explore new avenues of cooperation with South Korea, saying that the latter is one of the best models of development to be followed by Haiti, given the important role it has assigned to trade and development investments to ensure its economic growth over the past 50 years.
