Haiti - Economy : No shortages, but scarcity of gasoline 91 and 95 according to the Government...
The cargo of petroleum products from Venezuela, which is supposed to supply Haiti, approximately every 20 days, is in delayed of two weeks. Consequently, the tanks of 91 and 95 Gazolines in most gas stations are empty in the capital, With only a few stations, which serve some privileged customers...

Monday, once again, a lot of motorists fed long queues in front of gas stations in the hope of finding a few gallons of precious fuel, essential to their activities.

Max Roumain, President of the National Association of distributors of petroleum products has confirmed this "There are a scarcity since over a week at the level of 91 and 95 gasoline. This week there is a rationing and tanks are almost dry..." adding that this scarcity do not concerned diesel or kerosene.

Max Roumain explained that since last year, the Association pointed out that "there is not enough space to store gasoline, including 91. The slightest delay can cause rarity [...] an increase of storage would allow of increase from 28 to 40 days of consumption and cope with delay [...]"

For its part, the Ministry of Communications has confirmed that "the next delivery of petroleum products will arrive at terminal Thor (Carrefour) Friday, April 12." A good news, however, motorists will have to wait until Sunday to see gas stations replenished, due to the time of discharge of oil.

In a statement, the Minister of Communication, in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI), that wants to be reassuring "stresses to the attention of users of petroleum products, that there is no absolute shortage of gasoline 91 through fuel pumps and that the diesel and other products such as Kerosene (Jet Fuel) are available in various points of sale in the country," and asks to the population to not panic and to supplies following its regular rhythm and to consume fuel with moderation, pending the arrival of the next tanker."

For her part Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie, Minister of Economy and Finance clarified that this situation had nothing to do with the disappearance of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez nor with the Petrocaribe program, without knowing why, that delivery has 2 weeks late...
