Haiti - Economy : «Towards the boosting of private investment in Haiti»
On Monday, the President Michel Martelly, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and Wilson Laleau Minister of Economy and Finance, participated in a panel discussion organized by the Private Sector Economic Forum and the Ministry of economy and Finance. This activity took place at the Hotel Karibe on the theme "Towards the boosting of private investment in Haiti", brought together many personalities from the economic sector.

In his speech, the President Martelly congratulated the Haitian private sector for this initiative and expressed his sincere thanks to Ali Mansoor, Secretary of Finance of Mauritius and Bertrand Beautiful, Principal Secretary for Economy and Planning of Seychelles, two keynote speakers, who shared with the audience their experiences of economic reforms.

The islands "Mauritius and the Seychelles, although located in a different part of the world, [Indian Ocean] are truly sisters Nations of Haiti, to which we are bound by several notable similarities, starting with the official languages, French and Creole, the small size of our respective economies, the fact of having been all three at a time of our respective histories, of French colonies, and our common love for the carnival and good music !" declared the Head of State who took the opportunity to renew the commitment of his Administration to encourage international investors to invest their capital in Haiti.



In addition, he invited both speakers to make known Haiti in their respective countries insisting that his administration wanted at all costs place the creation of sustainable jobs and attracting private investment, carriers of growth and prosperity at the center of the national development strategy." "In this context, since my accession to the helm of affairs, I set out to establish a space for frank, open and productive dialoguewith the Haitian private sector, especially with the Private Sector Economic Forum which includes among its members the most representative associations of business," indicated the Head of State who stressed that the Martelly-Lamothe Administration continued to increase efforts to reform and of modernization of its 'welcoming framework' to the productive private investment and generating of wealth and prosperity.

In this sense, he expressed support for a dynamic public-private partnership, indicating to have already gave instructions to the relevant members of the Government for this panel discussion be followed by concrete actions aimed the reforms that will allow Haiti to follow the similar path that Mauritius and the Seychelles, since their respective independence in 1968 and 1973.

In his speech, Prime Minister Lamothe has expressed its support for this initiative "on one of the themes important and priority of his government : boosting private investment in Haiti, which is and remains one of the most important issues for our country..."
