Haiti - Justice : Vincent E. Green brings his expertise to the ULCC
Mr. Vincent E. Green, Director of Vendor Integrity and Investigations for the City University of New York, was in visit last week in Haiti.

During his trip, Mr. Green met with government officials, representatives of the judicial system, civil society representatives, watchdog group members, and other relevant agencies in order to discuss, identify and explore areas of cooperation in the implementation and evaluation of the Haitian government’s National Strategy for the Fight against Corruption [existing since 2010 and is currently under evaluation].

During a press conference at the conclusion of his visit, Mr. Green said: "The most important thing to understand is that corruption has not appeared overnight and will not disappear automatically. This is an investment that requires time to bring results. The partnership with a free press and the support of the population are necessary for its success.” According to Mr. Green, transparency is the key in the fight against corruption.

For his part, the Director General of the ULCC, Mr. Antoine Atouriste, said: "Thanks to the political determination of the government of the republic and the support of our partners including the United States, the ULCC is making great steps." Mr. Atouriste also announced that the ULCC will continue to benefit from the expertise of Mr. Green in the implementation, and strengthening of its National Strategy for the Fight against Corruption.
