Haiti - Education : MoU for the reform of the education system

Wednesday, Vanneur Pierre, the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) and Bérard Cénatus, Member of the Board of Directors of the Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS) [entity of the State University of Haiti] signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the Operational Plan of refoundation of the education system.
Among the commitments made by the ENS, among others :
- The preparation of its students in accordance with the programs of secondary ;
- The renovation and additions to be made in the training curriculum at the ENS, in order to train teachers to meet the demands of the educational system refounded ;
- The guidance to graduates in the preparation and filing of their output memory ;
- The support in the implementation of the different axes of the Operational Plan.
For its part, the MENFP is committed to among others :
- Accompany ENS in its development plan ;
- Recruiting for a probationary period of one year, on the basis of the remuneration of a teachers at the beginning of their careers, the certified of the current year ;
- Propose, in accordance with the rules of public administration, a recruitment for graduates of the ENS, which will have fulfilled the requirements of their probation ;
- Welcome within its institutions for a internship of training, students of the ENS.
The Minister has welcomed the signing of this protocol, which opens new horizons for the next generation of educational staff in Haiti. Quality education goes, he said, by training and classroom availability of qualified and competent teachers. It will be according to the Minister of Education "to entrust the education of young to the professional of education, in other words to the normaliens and academics who choose the Educational Sciences."
