Haiti - Politic : Pierre-Richard Casimir met the Secretary General of the OAS
Wednesday, June 5, on the sidelines of the 43rd Ordinary Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), held from 4 to 6 June in La Antigua (Guatemala), Pierre-Richard Casimir, the Minister Foreign Affairs met with José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of the OAS.

The two men exchanged among others, on the central theme of the Assembly, "For a Comprehensive Policy against the World Drug Problem in the Americas". The Secretary General took the opportunity to welcome the progress made by the Haitian government in its fight against drugs and money laundering.

The question of the organization of the next partial senatorial and local elections in Haiti were also discussed. Casimir the Chancellor reiterated the commitment of the Government Martelly-Lamothe to provide adequate resources to the Transitional College of the Permanent Electoral Council (CTCEP) to enable it to fulfill its mandate in good condition and as quickly as possible. Once again, Mr. Insulza welcomed the willingness of the Government of Haiti to want facilitate the holding of the next elections.

In addition, the Minister Casimir and Mr. Insulza have provided an update on the Haitian-Dominican relations, especially on the important issue of identifying Haitians living in the Dominican Republic.

Given the importance of these themes in the agenda of the Chancellery, the Minister Casimir and the Secretary General of the OAS, have pledged to do their best in their respective spheres of action, to overcome the difficulties that may arise in the future on these issues of common interest.
