Haiti - Economy : Sharing of experiences between EDH and the Dominican Republic
Friday, as part of its exploratory missions to identify appropriate strategies to reduce losses and improve its business performance, a Mission of the Electricity of Haiti (EDH), led by Ms. Andress Apollon, Director General traveled to the Dominican Republic to visit the power company EDESUR.

The Mission was composed of osnick Grant, Commercial Director, Ludner Pierre, Deputy Commercial Director, Mackenson Michel, Responsible Management System Commercial, Sonie Métellus, Responsible Commercial Agency of Delmas, Serge Joseph Chery, Responsible Services Major Clients, Karine Collin, Responsible for Call Center, Achille Charles, Representative of the Coordination Unit and Nathalie Jean, Communication Officer Attached to the General Management.

During this visit, the Dominican EDESUR electricity company, shared with the EDH its experience of commercial modernization, which has enabled it to reduce its losses from 37% to 20% in less than a decade. To do it EDESUR worked closely with the Spanish IT company Indra Sistemas, specializing in software development for the improvement of management and business performance. This is the same company, which has newly installed 3 software for administrative and commercial management to EDH.



This mission allowed the executives of the Commercial Directorate of the EDH to visit all computerized operations of EDESUR, including :

  • Control Center and Energy Balance ;
  • The Dispatching ;
  • The Database Centre ;
  • The Call Center ;
  • A Commercial Agency

Following these visits, discussions with Indra and the World Bank [which funded software], focused on the improvements needed to resolve billing issues in EDH, and the identification of new actions to be applied for 2013-2014.

This mission falls within the framework of an initiative launched by Ms Andress Apollon, aimed at rely on best business practices in the region in order to make profitable EDH in the shortest possible time. Recall that it is in this context that Ms. Apollon went on June 10 in Honduras, to inquire about the solutions applied by the electric power company ENEE, in subcontracting of operations of meter reading, bill delivery and modernization of methods of payment.

Despite the enormous challenges encountered, EDH does not intend to break with such steps because "Fòk Ayiti Vanse" as stated by the Director of teh EDH, which has reiterated her commitment to work tirelessly towards the modernization of the electricity sector for the benefit of the population.
