Haiti - Politic : Tour of Pamela White, in North and North-East of Haiti
On 20 and 21 June 2013, the Ambassador of the United States in Haiti, Pamela White, visited several projects funded by the U.S. government in various towns of the North and Northeast of Haiti.

Thursday, after landing at the Cap Haitien airport, Ambassador White, proceeded, along with President Michel Martelly to the launch of the project "Avanse" of "North Feed the Future" program.

Through the "Avanse" project, targeting food security in Haiti, the U.S. government will be working with the Ministry of Agriculture increasing agricultural production and improving farmers’ lives. "The U.S. Government’s goal, and that of President Obama’s, is to help Haitians feed themselves so they can AVANSE the whole country," U.S. Ambassador stressed, adding "Through the AVANSE project, I want to see positive change taking place in the area. With local farmers using modern techniques, we will see growth allowing the people of this region to feed their families, and send their kids to school. If the North develops, so will the rest of Haiti."

Joined by President Martelly, Ambassador White took part in the groundbreaking of a project to rehabilitate the Grison Garde Acul du Nord 3rd communal section irrigation system and agricultural road in an area known for its production of cocoa, rice, bananas, and corn.

Subsequently, she inaugurated a new market place in Bas Limbe. The residents and merchants of Bas Limbe have been asking for a new market since 2010, thus the U.S. Government assisted the mayor and the Bas Limbe community in the design, planning, and construction of the market. "Any market is a reflection of the community – a well run market proves that the community is well organized, and ready to move forward," said Ambassador White, who asked the residents of Bas-Limbe to properly maintain their market for the development of their community.

Friday, June 21, Ambassador White inaugurated the Public Square in Limonade. At the inauguration, Ambassador White stated, "I associate this center with life, a rebirth, security, and beauty. My government is proud to have contributed to the creation of this center." After the ceremony, Ambassador White signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the LOKAL+ project, which aims to improve the lives of Haitians by strengthening the ability of municipal governments to deliver the public services.
