Haiti - Social : Hunting smugglers in Turks and Caicos
Since last April, the Consulate General of Haiti in the Turks and Caicos (TCI) works with government of TCI to address the problem of boats carrying illegal migrants from Haiti.

The Consul General of Haiti, Karlo Pelissier, lamented the difficulty of identifying and capturing people [smugglers] who continue to facilitate the arrival of illegal immigrants from Haiti "We haven’t identified anyone as yet, but we are working to make them aware that the Haitian government and the TCI government are looking for these people. We want it to stop.."

The Consul reminds people arriving illegally in TCI, that they will struggle to find work. Adding that even if they succeed to find employment and someone to apply for their work permit, it is almost never in the interest of the worker for it to be done in this manner. Urging our compatriots to go through the proper channels to obtain visas to legally enter the territory of the Turks and Caicos.

In addition, the Consulate continues to inform and educate Haitians living in the Turks and Caicos on the achievements that Haiti continues to make and encourage them to seek work in Haiti and help grow their country.
