Haiti - Social : Closing of the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince
The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince will close to the public Thursday July 11 due to forecasted tropical storm conditions and to help ensure the safety of Embassy personnel and visitors. We regret any inconvenience the closure might cause. American citizens in need of emergency assistance should call 2229-8000 and ask to be connected to the duty officer. The Embassy will reopen for normal business at 8:00 a.m. on Friday July 12.

American citizen services

The American Citizen Services unit will be closed for routine services. All previously scheduled appointments for July 11 will be rescheduled for another date. Again, American citizens in need of emergency assistance should call 2229-8000 and ask to be connected to the duty officer.

Nonimmigrant visa services

All nonimmigrant visa appointments scheduled for July 11 are rescheduled as follows. Applicants should arrive at the consulate at the time of their original interview on the new date specified.

July 11: Appointments rescheduled for Wednesday, July 17.

If your situation is urgent and you cannot come to the consulate on the new date, please email papniv@state.gov and specify the emergency nature of the situation.

Immigrant visa services

All immigrant visa appointments scheduled for July 11 are rescheduled as follows. Applicants should arrive at the consulate at the time of their original interview on the new date specified.

July 11: Appointments rescheduled for Wednesday, July 17.

Appointments for all other consular services scheduled for July 11, 2013 will be rescheduled on a to-be-determined date.

Haiti Messenger has informed the Consulate that they will suspend all operations on July 11and there will be no passport return services.
