Haiti - Security : Moto-Taxi a useful service, but dangerous for users (Exclusive) 11/07/2013 13:27:30 From Côtes-de-fer to Anse-à-Pitres, residents are almost all interconnected, despite the lack of road infrastructure to link these towns together. But, this service how useful to the department, is often pay dearly, in a poorly regulated sector, to the perilous routes often congested of Taxi-moto, who sometimes drive with more than three passengers... In an exclusive report to HaitiLibre or the months of May and June 2013, Dr. Gaspard SEM, responsible for the emergency department and outpatient clinic of the Hospital Saint-Michel of Jacmel, indicated to have recorded 216 cases of trauma accident on the highway for the month of May and 203 for June, adding that 250 of reported cases, were accidents of Taxi-moto including 126 for the month of May and 124 for the month of June. "We divide them into different groups, for the adult male category, we have 171 cases, 84 in May and 87 in June. For the adult female category, we recorded 58 cases, including 34 in May and 24 in June. Finally the category boys and girls, we have 21 cases, including 4 boys and 4 girls in May and 6 boys and 7 girls in June," patiently explained the Chief Emergency noting "[...] we already have several cases related to motorcycle accident in early July." If over the years, the movement of motorcycle taxis spread throughout the Southeast department, the roads they travel each day to facilitate the movement of citizens, do not meet the safety of passengers, because until today, the roads and streets are not suitable for all vehicles driving on them.
