Haiti - Education : Improving the quality of education by reading...
The First Edition of the National Championship of Reading 2012-2013, organized by the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training, under the patronage of Franketienne, which was launched launched on July 2, allowed students admitted in 3rd and 4th Year Fundamental, of public and private schools, to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of off-school learning, which kept them busy intellectually in order to avoid the loss of reading skills during this period.

Triple objective of Championship of reading :

  • Keep reading skills of students admitted in the third and fourth AF;
  • Motivate students to learn to read and inspire their interest of reading ;
  • Create a dynamic around reading at the national level in order to enhance the learning in communities.

According to the Ministry of Education, the National Championship of Reading, involved nearly 12,000 students from selected schools on a random basis: 100 schools spread throughout the country, to teh rate of 10 schools by department. In addition to these 100 schools, three integration centers for street children participate in this championship as well as 75 schools of treatment 2 of project "Tout Timoun Ap Li" (TOTAL), which develop summer activities ; hence a total of 178 institutions participating in the National Championship of Reading.



The quarterfinals, throughout the territory, which began on August 13 end this Monday, August 19. The semi-final is scheduled Wednesday, August 21 and the final Friday, August 23 at Historical Park of the Sugarcane.
