Haiti - Economy : Index of Consumer Prices July 2013
The level of the General Index of Consumer Price (base 100 in August 2004) for the month of July 2013, underwent a slight increase from 208.6 in June to 208.8 in July, a slight monthly variation of +0.1% for a 6.2% yoy, respectively, against +0.1% and 6.5% the previous month.

This slight increase is due to higher consumption functions "Clothing and textiles, shoes" +0.4% "Rent Housing, Energy and Water" and 0.9% "Other Goods and Services" +0.3%) The function "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" has declined of -0.1%.

The observed increase in the index "Clothing, Textiles and Footwear" is following the upward trend of items "Fabrics" +1.4% "shirt" +1.1% "dress" +1.2% and "tailoring" +1.2%.

The observed increase in the index "Rent Housing, Energy and Water" is essentially consecutive to the upward "rent housing" +1.6% and +0.7% charcoal.

The raising of level of the index "Other Goods and Services" is mainly the result of increased of shampoo +1.8%, the body cream 1.4%, other hair-care products +0.6% and cleaning shoes +0.9%.

It should be noted the decline in the index "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" is due to the evolution of the difference in prices of certain products: bread +0.2%, Banana -1.0%, dried pea -0.9%, yam -2.1%, potato -0.9%, potatoes -2.2%, arbre véritable -0.9%, orange +4.7%, grapefruit +0.5%, lemon -4.8%, coffee powder +0.4% and salt +0.9%.

Metropolitan Area: +0.2% (Includes Port-au-Prince, Delmas, Petion-Ville, Carrefour and Croix des Bouquets.)
Rest West: +0.1% (includes departments Southeast and West excluding the metropolitan area)
North: -0.1% (including departments of North, Northeast and Northwest)
South: +0.1% (including departments of South Grand Anse and Nippes)
Transversal: -0.1% (including departments of Centre and Artibonite)
