Haiti - Diplomacy : Guy Lamothe new Ambassador of Haiti to Belize 21/09/2013 10:23:05 This is the second time since the independence of Belize, that Haiti is represented by an ambassador. Ambassador Lamothe, at the invitation of the Government of Belize, will participate today, Saturday to the festivities commemorating the 31st anniversary of the Independence of the country. On the sidelines of the ceremony of credentials, the new non-resident Ambassador, expressed the hope that relations between Belize and Haiti reinforce and transmitted to the Governor Youg the greetings of President Martelly and to the Chancellor Erlington, the wishes of Happy Independence Day from his Haitian counterpart Pierre-Richard Casimir. The Belize authorities have also expressed the desire to achieve shortly a visit to Haiti and requested the Haiti vote for the position of Secretary General Adoint of the Organization of American States (OAS) in the upcoming elections. Recall that Belize and Haiti are members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), the OAS and are also signatories to the Cotonou Agreement, linking the countries of the Group of African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries and those of the European Union. In Haiti, Belize is represented by the Honorary Consul, Didier Gardère.
