Haiti - Social : Digicel is committed with disabled people
For everyman, engage in the sale of products Digicel is a voluntary action. Yet when it comes to offering the opportunity for disabled people to become financially independent, Digicel makes it a personal matter. The partnership developed with the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH) and the Foundation "J'Aime Haïti" since the month of August is the proof.

9 departments are already affected by the project developed jointly for the benefit of persons with disabilities: the West, Nippes, Centre, South, Grand Anse, North, Northeast, Southeast and Artibonite . The goal according to the project coordinator, Joacyn Marseille is to promote the integration of persons with disabilities. It is to propelling 300 disabled persons towards small business, 30 persons per department.

Recipients are selected based on their ability and their vulnerability in relation to their disability. They are recruited by members of the regional offices of BSEIPH working with associations of people with disabilities of the place. For one day, they are trained on the management of funds of a small business and customer management.

At the end of their training, the beneficiaries receive a telephony device with a credit of 1,250 gourdes, an apron, a table and a parasol to become sales agents "Pap Padap" involved in the sale of electronic refills. This is a project that the Bureau had already developed with the mobile phone company, Voilà. We are pleased that Digicel has agreed to accompany us," rejoiced Joacyn Marseille.

It is with enthusiasm that Digicel has followed suit alongside BSEIPH in this project. According to Émile Tuzayana, Responsible for the refill at the Digicel "This falls within the framework of social actions of the company [...] The contribution of Digicel in the project is estimated at 27,000 U.S. dollars. Equipment and SIM cards intended for sale, are also granted to the beneficiaries."

If 300 people with disabilities constitute new resources in the distribution of products Digicel, the cooperation of the company is more a social action than anything else"We are proud to participate in the cause. This has been a great success in its first phase and we are proud to contribute to its sustainability," declared Émile Tuzayana.

Those responsible plan to continue and strengthen support provided to disabled persons through this project, if we rely on the words of Émile Tuzayana "It's a good thing that a person escape poverty because BSEIPH the Foundation 'J'Aime Haiti' and Digicel will have bring it support."
