Haiti - Social : Protests, between commemoration and claims... 01/10/2013 12:14:43 Several cities of the country were also the headquarters of pro Lavalas events including : Cap-Haitian. Miragoâne and Les Cayes, supported by leaders of the "Patriotic Movement of the Democratic Opposition" (MOPOD) platformwhich brings together the RDNP, PLH, PROP, Ayisyen pou Ayiti, KID, Ansanm Nou Fo, INITE, Fusion and OPL, which are opposed to the "Tet Kale" regime. Several demonstrators denounced the excesses of the executive led by President Martelly, drifts they consider as warning signs of a dictatorship, chanting hostile words to the President Martelly that they also accused of taking part in two coups against former President Aristide in 1991 and 2004 ; alling for the resignation of the Head of State, holding placards where we could read among others "Aba ti Simone, aba masisi" or "Any persecution against Aristide is a persecution against the people." Lavalas demonstrators were dispersed with tear gas by the police in St-Honoré street near the Champ de Mars, by the police and metal barriers were installed to prevent protesters enter the Champ de Mars, causing panic. Rony Timothée, the spokesman for the pro-Lavalas organization "Patriotic Force for the Respect of the Constitution" (FOPARC), denounced the mismanagement of the team in power and demanded the departure of President Martelly. Dr Maryse Narcisse, coordinator of the Executive Committee of Fanmi Lavalas, which accompanied the event alongside several other executives reiterated the commitment of the organization to support the population in its claims. The former Deputy Serge Jean-Louis, President of MOPOD, denounced the initiative of the Executive which, according to him, intends to restore a dictatorship and demanded the resignation of the head of state, as Dr. Evans Gérard Beaubrun, Deputy Secretary General of the Rally of Progressive National Democrats (NPDR), which appealed to the deputies to support senators who last week adopted a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Michel Martelly, of Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and me Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice. The Deputy Sorel Jacinthe considered for its part, that these demonstrations reflected the almost universal discontent of the population, on the mismanagement of the country by the Government.
