Haiti - Politic : Perspectives of actions of the IDEA (2013-2014) 14/10/2013 13:15:56
The former Minister for Women, Marie-Laurence Jocelyn Lassègue, Program Director in Haiti, for the Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance - IDEA International, presented last week the perspectives of the IDEA office in Haiti, which intend increase its efforts for the new 2013-2014 year.
To this end, she presented an action plan that focuses on four major areas : 1) Strengthening the links between political parties and their elected representatives in Parliament ; 2) Enhancing women's political participation ; 3) Institutional Strengthening of Transitional College of the Permanent Electoral Council (CTCEP), 4) Implementation of SOD (State of Democracy), that is to say, the evaluation of the state of the democracy program.
For carry out these projects, IDEA considers that a budget of approximately U.S. $900,000 will be required, pending the Swiss Cooperation Fund and the European Union who intend this year contribute financially, indicated Ms. Lassègue, who recalled in conclusion, that the actions of the IDEA depended heavily on the needs and realities on the ground.
