Haiti - Social : Handing keys of 22 houses in Cité Féquière
This Friday in Cité Soleil, St Luke Foundation and Action Chretienne Pour Le Developpement (ACD), will proceed with the delivery of the keys of 22 houses in Cité Féquière within the community reconstruction project "Fors lakay", aimed at improving the living conditions of the population.

The 22 houses have been built within the community reconstruction project "Fors lakay" promoted by St Luke Foundation a Haitian run organization, with the collaboration of ACD in Citè Fequiere.

Under this program, Father Rick Frechette, doctor in front line, since 26 years at the head of NPFS and St Luke Foundation, and his team, together with the community have already delivered a house to 100 families, a bakery where young people can be trained to be bakers and make bread for their people, the Saint Mary family hospital and a water distribution system.

Thanks to a collaborative effort between the St. Luke Foundation and CVR/MINUSTAH, 22 permanent homes have been built in the neighborhoods of City Soleil, City Fequiere and will be officially delivered to impoverished, marginalized and disenfranchised families, on 8th November at the presence of local authorities and members of the community. This project was supported by CVR (Community Violence Reduction) and implemented by Haitian partners, St. Luke Foundation and Action Chretienne Pour Le Developpement (ACD), with the aim of strengthening the families, providing homes to displaced people, restoring the condition of a dignified life, reducing violence, and providing employment for the residents of this extremely impoverished community, whose members actively participated in this process of construction, not just of buildings, but also of Peace.

The inauguration ceremony of the 22 houses is taking place November 8th, 2013 at 10 am in Cité Soleil, City Fequiere. The ceremony will be attended by special guests, all supporters of St Luke Foundation: Hollywood Academy Award winner Paul Haggis, chairman of APJ; Madeleine Stowe, Hollywood actress; Mariavittoria Rava, chairman of Francesca Rava Foundation, representative of Saint Luke Foundation and NPFS in Italy, who will remember Cilla, Italian UN official died in the earthquake, to whom this ceremony is dedicated and whose memory keeps inspiring concrete projects of hope and relief in Haiti; Martina Colombari, Italian actress, model and volunteer of Rava Foundation.

The program of the inauguration includes the participation and speeches of local authorities and representatives of the community, among which over 1000 children who will "sign" a petition for Peace. Local dances and music will introduce the official delivery of the keys of the houses to the beneficiary families.
