Haiti - Politic : The Southeast presents its list of needs 14/11/2013 10:28:53 This forum was an opportunity for the organizers to present to the state authorities a list of needs (cahier de charges) developed using a human rights-based approach, realized with the participation of several civil society organizations of Southeast. This 93-page document outlines the main needs of the people of South East in terms of economic, social and cultural side to the civil and political rights. The right to food, the right to education, right to health and the right to an adequate standard of living, are the different themes addressed in this document sent to the various organs of the state. It was developed with the aim of mobilizing decision-makers to place the human being at the center of policy development. Through the implementation of this list of needs, the initiators want to give elected officials a document setting out the main priorities of their constituencies. The initiative to achieve these document described as "an effective tool in the hands of parliamentarians and public authorities" was welcomed by the Minister Auguste "I have analyzed your document. This is an excellent exercise in citizen participation, with an exemplary objectivity." Delegated Minister believes that if all Haitians share these concerns and showed the same spirit of openness and dialogue, it could greatly contribute to building a rule of law in the country. Despite all differences, she urged all the forces of the nation to come together around a common ideal. "We need to be clear on one point: the biggest obstacle to the satisfaction of basic human rights of all Haitians is the disunity. We must regroup around our common goals, identify the obstacles to achieving these objectives and arm ourselves of ardor so that together we realize the miracle that will restore Haiti's name - the Pearl of the Antilles - a pearl where the citizen will not suffer hungry, where no citizen will have its human rights abused." This docvument has been submitted to the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe to be submitted for discussion at the next edition of program "Gouvènman Lakay". According to the Minister Delegate, this document will be of great help to refine the actions of the government for satisfying the needs expressed, according to its resources and its obligations to the other regions of the country.
