Haiti - Politic : The National Reconstruction making great strides
Wednesday, the 22nd Government Council, which was held under the theme "National Reconstruction", chaired by the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, has allowed government officials to present a state of progress of ongoing work and mechanisms put in place by the Martelly administration to keep the country on track for change and development.

During the Council, the Ministry of Public Works, through its Secretary of State for Transport, Philippe Cinéas, gave an update on the various airports under construction in several departments of the country and their impact on poles of tourism development identified by the state to revive the national economy.

"The Government is pursuing the development of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport work. A dozen counters and 24 spaces that can accommodate shops and restaurants will be added. Airports in Les Cayes and Ile-a-Vache are under construction," said the Prime Minister "[...] Airport Guy Malary, which provides the connection between the capital and provincial cities, is also being rehabilitated, $6.5 million was disbursed to complete this work. For his part, Jacques Rousseau, Minister of Public Works has reviewed the 28 bridges and other works of art that are realized ​​across the country as well as urban rehabilitation work undertaken by the Government to facilitate the movement of the population.

At the heart of this dynamic of change, Laurent Lamothe indicated that the construction work of the administrative center of the capital are in progress and project a modern vision of the city, with the construction of 7 public buildings, under the direction of the Unit for Housing Construction and Public Buildings (UCLBP), recalling that the expropriation process continues normally.

Recreational areas to provide the youth of healthy recreational activities, are also constructed and / or rehabilitated. Thus, the Rex Theatre, the ciné Triomphe are at a very advanced stage. The renovation of the Champs de Mars, and other public places in the metropolitan area of ​​Port-au-Prince were also launched. Some works, such as the Place Boyer and St. Pierre in Petionville completed. In addition, several sports complexes in Jacmel, Ouanaminthe, Les Cayes, Gonaives and Mirebalais are completed at 90%.

The authorities have also reviewed the government social programs aimed at improving the living conditions of the population "The Haitian man should be at the heart of development," stressed the Prime Minister, who pays close attention to these programs to help the Haitian people recover their dignity.

The housing policy of the Government initiated during the difficult post-earthquake period and which allowed the construction of 3,000 housing units in the village Lumane Casimir, whose 500 habe been recently inaugurated, addresses this concern. 2,500 more are under construction on the same site with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Ultimately, more than 7,000 social housing will be built.



The project Jalousie in color, whose second phase has just started recently, allowed the renovation of more than 1,000 homes and 2,200 square meters of concrete corridor, work that has generated thousands of jobs for the people of this fragile area.

Prime Minister Lamothe, took advantage of the the 22nd Council to reiterated its determination to work for the people of Haiti and urged ministers to act with the utmost speed, in order to continue to provide quality service and improve the life of the population, to place Haiti, definitely on the path of sustainable development.
