Haiti - Politic : End of tour of Laurent Lamothe in California
Friday, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe has completed its tour in California, initiated last Monday during which he was able to obtain the support of several major investors and companies specializing in the development of information technology.

In his opening speech of the Dreamforce Salesforce conference, where he was the keynote speaker, Prime Minister Lamothe alongside Goodwill Ambassadors Petra Nemcova and Sean Penn, invited the technology companies to invest in Haiti. The CEO of Salesforce, Marc Benioff, has agreed to lead a delegation of potential investors in Haiti in early 2014.



"The Haitian government is doing its best to get its citizens out of extreme poverty. One way to do this is to create jobs through the use of technology, "said the Prime Minister, adding " Together, we can make Haiti a better place and a pride for the whole world."

Wednesday, during a visit to Google, the Chief of the Haitian Government has convinced the leaders of this enterprise to to update satellite images of Haiti through their Google Earth application, what will allow to display a more recent view of the development of infrastructure projects and progress in the relocation of people displaced by the earthquake of January 12, 2010 people.



By visiting Facebook, Laurent Lamothe discussed with officials the possibility that Haiti is part of a new development project designed to improve Internet access in the world [more information on www.internet.org]

The Prime Minister also visited Apple, which is committed to developing an e-learning strategy for Haitian teachers. Apple has also expressed interest in working with local universities to promote the development of applications for the benefit of Haitian students.

Friday, the Prime Minister also met with the leaders of the company "TOMS SHOES" in the context of monitoring the implementation of a shoe factory in Haiti, an investment of $10 million, which was announced at the meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) on September 26 by Blake Mycoskie, Founder and Chief of "Shoe Giver". The factory is expected to begin production in early 2014.

After the visits of technology sites, Prime Minister Lamothe, attended an event hosted by actress Soleil Moon Frye and Sean Penn, in order to meet personalities and celebrities to encourage them to invest in Haiti and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.
