Yesterday while demonstrations were held in various part of the metropolitan area https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9974-haiti-social-this-friday-day-of-demonstrations-update-4h19-pm.html President of the Republic Michel Martelly, met at the National Palace, with some Haitian personalities around the massacre of the ruelle Vaillant. They are Me Gérard Gourgue, Professor Victor Benoit, General Herard Abraham, General Prosper Avril, Mr. Jacques Sampeur, Director of Radio Télé Antilles, Mr. Jacques Sampeur, the sociologist Daniel Supplice and certain advisers of the Head of State. The President of the Republic and his guests observed a moment of silence in memory of the victims.

It was for the President of the Republic to gather in the same space these personalities who lived at one level or another at the time, those dark moments in our history of people seeking democracy. "It is a duty of remembrance that we are to meet by inviting on this memorable day, some actors who have lived this bloody event," indicated the President.

This meeting allowed the participants to recall the different circumstances of the bloody and deadly events. From a testimony to another, memories revived horrific moments in the collective memory. These witnesses of history took the opportunity to express their understanding of the circumstances that led to this tragedy. They took the opportunity to express the hope that the Haitian people left behind this dismal past to project in a serene future resolutely turned towards sustainable development and prosperity in a participatory manner, with as a compass the respect of the cardinal principles and democratic.

The experienced pedagogue and mother of "Combitisme" Odette Roy Fombrun, which could not honor the invitation of the President of the Republic to this panel, while apologizing, made the following vow "I hope the government comes to lead us to elections, which this time, do not divide, do not offer a new ruelle Vaillant and show the enemies of the Nation who preach division the way of union drawn by our ancestors."

The President of the Republic, for which the duty of memory and of a better understanding of this date sadly memorable was capital, thanked the participants for their contribution to this meeting. Promising to take into account the different views expressed in the circumstances, in the perspective of a better decision making for the benefit of the Haitian people, the President Martelly reiterated its firm determination to strengthen republican institutions and democracy while working to maintain a climate of stability so that the country has never to relive such an event.
