Haiti - Technology : Haiti will manufacture 2,600 tablet computers for students in Venezuela
Sunday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro received in Caracas at Miraflores Palace, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe who was accompanied by U.S. actor Sean Penn. During the meeting that lasted over one hour was discussed mainly bilateral relations between the two countries.

At the end of this meeting, Sean Penn, indicated that in the context of cooperation between the two countries, Haiti will participate in the production of digital tablets, assembled in Haiti, for Venezuelan students.

In his statement, President Maduro explained that 2.6 million tablets with cellular technology will be manufactured whose 300,000 in a first time, will be delivered in the coming weeks. He indicated that he will meet soon with the Prime Minister of Haiti to advance on the issue of the cooperation Alba-Petrocaribe and confirmed "Haiti will manufacture a tablet, as part of a productive partnership to deliver 2,600 of these tablets to our students."

He also took the opportunity to announce a new meeting will be held with the Haitian authorities to establish new partnerships, "in line with the collaboration of Commander Chavez, who was a friend of Haiti and an extraordinary citizen."



Venezuelan President and the Chief of the Haitian government agreed to diversify the areas of cooperation between the two countries. Also, President Maduro is committed to supporting the national literacy campaign launched by the government team to reduce illiteracy and promote social inclusion in Haiti.

President Maduro said he was impressed by the progress made in Haiti in such a short time, while reaffirming the strengthening and sustaining of the Petrocaribe agreement. In order to support the Haitian economy, he promises to inject several million U.S. dollars in the technology sector to promote the production of tablets and other electronic accessories made in Haiti.

In addition, the Venezuelan Head of State announced that it was planned that the actor and producer Sean Penn, come to Venezuela to offer workshops to the "Villa del Cine".

For his part, the Prime Minister Lamothe testified his appreciation for the loyalty, trust and esteem of the Venezuelan population, as part of his 24-hour visit.
