Haiti - Politic : The OPC concerned about violence that is reaching alarming proportions 13/06/2019 10:41:07 Martine Denis Chandler, and Richardson Jourdan of National Television of Haiti were mistreated, Lesly Dorcin of the newspaper Le Nouvelliste was wounded by bullet, the journalist Petion Rospide of "Radio Sans Fin" (RSF) was assassinated Monday, June 10th https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27967-haiti-security-the-journalist-rospide-petion-murdered.html . The premises of Radio-TV Ginen Located in Delmas 31 were attacked Monday, June 10 by lawless individuals in the eyes of everyone https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27959-haiti-politic-the-state-condemns-attacks-on-journalists-and-the-media.html The OPC wonders if Haiti is not reliving the worst moments of the years 2003, 2004, in other forms, with the objective of imposing the unique thought in Haiti and to ban all democratic values in particular freedom of expression, the right to challenge or the right to express contrary ideas independently and without concern. The Office stresses that the right to information, freedom of expression and the right to live in a secure environment are guaranteed by numerous international instruments ratified by the Haitian State, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the American Convention on Human Rights. The OPC recalls that it is the responsibility of the State to guarantee and protect the rights of all individuals on the national territory and encourages all actors to hold on to democratic values based on tolerance by promoting dialogue and the spirit of sacrifice as a lasting solution to the crisis in the country.
