Haiti - Costa Rica 2022 Qualification : Our U-20 Grenadières eliminated and humiliated by the USA [6-0] (Video)
Starting 11 Haiti :
Madelina Fleuriot in goal (bib #1), Rose Pierreline France (#3), Maudeline Moryl (#13), Estéricove Joseph (#2), Jenny Flore Desmarattes (#4), Mirlène Dorcé (#19), Gaëlle Dumas (#14), Rose-Alya Marcellus (#7), Valentina Ornis (#11), Dayana Pierre-Louis (#10) and Florsie Joseph (#9)
In the first period, our Grenadières conceded a first goal at 7' from Emily Mason (#4) who opened the scoring for the USA [1-0]. Our valiant Grenadières resisted the very offensive Americans, without however being able to find the equalizer. Madelina Fleuriot netted 3 more goals before halftime.
When they returned from the locker room, our girls could not resist for long against the dominating American favorites who were merciless for the Grenadières whom they literally crushed, scoring 5 additional goals. Haiti having failed to create any scoring opportunities, no corners and only framed one shot.
Alyssa Thompson (#11) scored the second goal of this match for the benefit of the USA at 49' [2-0]; Simone Jackson (#7) at 68' sinks the score [3-0].
Despite some changes from Fiorda Charles : Jenny Flore Desmarattes replaced by Rose Bertude Rosainvil, Dayana Pierre-Louis replaced by Chloë Joseph and Rose-Alya Marcellus replaced by Ginette Aristil, Haiti could not avoid the debacle.
Talia Dellaperuta (#20) at 78' adds a goal [4-0], Avery Patterson at 87' [5-0] and Michelle Cooper (#9) finished the match at 90'+3 [6-0] for the benefit of the Americans trained by Tracey Kevins, who qualify for the 1/2 final.
This defeat puts an end to the dreams of young Grenadières in this competition and the Haitian delegation will leave the Dominican Republic this Wednesday.
However, women's football in Haiti will resume internationally with the mobilization from next April of the U-17 selection which will compete for a place for the next world championship in the category and also the senior team which will leave in the quest for a ticket to the 2023 World Cup, the Paris Olympics and the 2024 Gold Cup.
