Haiti - Champions League : Historic victory Violette AC humiliates Austin FC [3-0] (Video)
Tuesday evening on the lawn of the Cibao Stadium in Santiago in the Dominican Republic, as part of the CONCACAF Champions League, Violette AC, winner of the CFU Championship at the expense of FC Cibao in May 2022, faced in the first leg (first leg of the round of 16), Austin FC, an American franchise club which plays in the Major Soccer League in Austin (Texas).

Violette AC created a surprise and caused a sensation by humiliating Austin FC [3-0] given yet arch-favorites in the forecasts.

It is undoubtedly a historic victory because never since the participation of Haiti in the new formula of the Champions League, no Haitian club has won a match neither Valencia FC of Léogâne in 2013 nor Don Bosco FC of Pétion-Ville in 2016 and neither Arcahaie FC in 2019.

Starting XI :
#12 Steve Shanon
#3 Fernando Cecerón
#6 Wilmond Oracius
#7 Jean Fabrice Vedrine
#10 Roberto Badio Louima
#16 Danny Camille
#17 Wendy St Felix
#20 Miche Naider Chery
#23 Denilson Pierre
#30 Elyvens Dejan
#77 Steve Saba (captain)

In the first period, Miche Naider Chery opened the scoring for the Old Tiger [1-0] on a pass from Roberto Louima. Miche Naider Chery, on a pass from Denilson Pierre sinks the score by scoring in the 39' a double for the benefit of Violette [2-0].

Back from the locker room, the old tiger only took 2 minutes to increase the score at 47' [3-0] thanks to an own goal from Amro Tarek Abdel-Aziz of Austin FC, whose players seemed overwhelmed by the turn of the game.

On March 14 in the United States, the Violette AC. Will play the return match against Austin FC who will undoubtedly be thirsty for revenge to wash away this humiliation. To qualify, the old tiger can settle for a draw but must avoid losing by 3 goals...

"The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) salutes the courage and determination of the players of Violette AC who offered themselves the victory Tuesday evening of the first leg against the American team of FC Austin [3-0] in the 1/8 finals of the Concacaf Champions League. That the mobilization is total to obtain the qualification at the end of the return match on the ground of the adversary on March 14, 2023."
