The General Index of Consumer Prices (base 100 in August 2004) for the month of January 2014, has suffered a slowdown in the increase: +0.2% against +0.4% in December 2013.

The monthly increase is the result of the evolution of the functions "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" (+0.3%), "Other Goods and Services" (+0.3%), "Textiles and Apparel, Footwear" (0.4 %), "Rent Housing, Energy and Water," "Planning, Equipment and Maintenance Housing" and "Health", which rose +0.2%.

The increase in "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" function results, among other of prices of beef and pork (+0.6% each), chicken and fresh fish (+0.5%), the smoked herring (+1.2%), pasteurized milk (1.3%), eggs (+0.7%), avocado (+3.6%), the giraumon (+3.2%) , cabbage (+1.6%), head (1.4%), lemon (6.1%), malta (+2.0%) and beer (+2.8 %);

Note that the rise of the "Clothing and Textile Shoes" comes particularly of the monthly increase in fabric prices (+0.6%), shirts, trousers for men and dress (+0.5%) and sandals (+0.6%).

By cons, the rise of inflation of the function "Other Goods and Services" is mainly due to price perfume, eau de toilette (+1.0%), powder toilet (+0.7%), cream body (+0.3%), toilet paper and cleaning of footwear (+0.2%).

General Price Index by Region (Variation on a month) :
Metropolitan Area: +0.1% (Includes Port-au-Prince, Delmas, Petion-Ville, Carrefour and Croix des Bouquets.)
Rest West: +0.5% (includes the departments of South-east and West excluding the Metropolitan Area)
South: +0.3% (including departments of North East and North West)
South: +0.3% (including departments of South Grand Anse and Nippes)
Transversal: +0.2% (including departments of Central and Artibonite)
