Haiti - Security : Extraordinary meeting of the Superior Council of the National Police
Thursday, an extraordinary meeting of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN) was held on the strengthening and consolidating the Office for the Fight against Illicit Narcotics Trafficking (BLTS).

Firstly, it was discussed of the state of the fleet of BLTS, which will be equipped with 17 new vehicles to ensure the mobility of agents throughout the territory. it was also question, to provide new equipment to the 220 agents of BLTS and tech computer equipment. American cooperation, through its Bureau of Narcotics Affairs intends to put available to BLTS, tools for efficient work, including vehicles, and mobile housing units, at airports and other sensitive points of the national territory.

During this meeting it was also raised issues related to the acceleration of the procedure for confiscation of ill-gotten gains, derived from illicit drug trafficking in accordance with the legislation whose a part will be used to strengthen the BLTS .

In addition, a multi-sectoral working group, bringing together all relevant stakeholders, will be established in order to fight more effectively against this scourge and to inform the entire population on this issue, which undermines the foundations of the rule of law in Haiti.

Through these measures, the CSPN intends to reaffirm its determination to fight without thank you against drug trafficking and organized crime. In this sense, a warning was extended to banks and notaries, which should always inquire about the source of the funds they receive for any transaction involving a certain amount in accordance with the law on the laundering.

"Zero Tolerance against organized crime," this is the motto of the CSPN.
