Haiti - Boxing : Adonis Stevenson keeps WBC light heavyweight belt
Saturday evening at Bell Centre in Montreal, the WBC World Heavyweight Champion of Haitian origin, Adonis Stivenson defended his title against Andrzej Fonfara, of Polish origin. In a very aggressive fighting before a very determined and fearless opponent, Adonis Stivenson won the victory and kept his title after 12 rounds by unanimous decision of the three judges "I would have liked to successfully complete the knockout, but at the same time, I'm glad to have proved that I can do 12 rounds," declared Adonis at the end of combat.

A fight where Adonis injured his hand in the second round "When I hurt my left hand, I told myself that the fight would be a long [...] I was in pain to every blow I gave. I felt that in my stomach, it vibrated much, but I could manage," Adonis acknowledged at a press conference. Adonis who knocked his opponent in the 1st and 5th round and hound himself down on the ring in the 9th round after a powerful right of Fanfara. The Polish despite a fall in the 12th round, gets up and puts all are energy against Adonis, but this is not enough and it's too late, he lost the fight.



"Stevenson is a great champion, but I believe that I will improve and become too champion [...] I tried very hard to get a win in the last three rounds, but I have failed to do enough. But hey, that's life," declared Fonfara in good loser who had passed close to put Stevenson checkmate after knocked him at the 9th round...

Javan Hill, Stevenson's coach commented "It was a really good test for Adonis [...] Certainly, we will quickly return in the gym to rework certain elements. But I want to tip my hat to Fonfara."

For the record, note that President Michel Martelly called Adonis Stevenson "Superman", to give him some words of support before his fight.

Congratulations Adonis, Haiti is once again proud of you !
